Mesotrione + Atrazine 55SC: Advanced Systemic Herbicide for Maize

Mesotrione 50g/L + Atrazine 500g/L and others 55SC (distributed by Saver Enterprise) is a highly selective, systemic post-emergence herbicide. Formulated as a Suspension Concentrate (SC), it is tailored specifically for maize (corn) growers to control annual grassy and broadleaf weeds in a single application.

Selective Mode of Action

This formulation combines Mesotrione (an HPPD inhibitor, Group 27) and Atrazine (a Photosystem II inhibitor, Group 5). Mesotrione stops carotenoid synthesis in weeds, causing rapid chlorophyll bleaching under sunlight. Atrazine halts energy production. The combination stops weed growth within hours, with complete weed death occurring within two weeks, while leaving the maize crop safe due to its natural metabolism of the chemicals.

Target Weeds in Maize

In Pakistan, this SC formulation is highly effective against major maize weeds including Dumbi Sitti, Deela (Cyperus rotundus), Bathu, and various annual broadleaf grasses. The SC liquid formulation ensures easy mixing and superior leaf adherence.

Agronomic Best Practices

Apply post-emergence during early weed stages when the soil is in 'watar' condition. Do not spray if the maize crop is under stress from waterlogging or extreme heat.
