Simazole Azoxystrobin Tebuconazole 50SC – Integrated Fungicide Guide for Pakistani Farmers
Simazole, a 50 % SC formulation containing the systemic fungicides azoxystrobin and tebuconazole, offers broad‑spectrum protection against leaf‑spot, rust, and blight diseases that plague wheat, rice and cotton across Pakistan. The product works by inhibiting mitochondrial respiration (QoI action of azoxystrobin) and disrupting sterol biosynthesis (DMI action of tebuconazole), leading to rapid fungal cell death and reduced spore production.
Target Pathogens
Key diseases controlled include:
- Wheat leaf rust (Puccinia triticina) and stripe rust (Puccinia striiformis).
- Rice blast (Magnaporthe oryzae) and sheath blight (Rhizoctonia solani).
- Cotton leaf spot (Alternaria spp.) and fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum).
Regional Compatibility
In the alkaline, calcareous soils of Central and Southern Punjab, azoxystrobin remains effective because its QoI activity is pH‑independent, while tebuconazole’s DMI action benefits from the acidic micro‑zone created by the SC carrier. For the saline‑sodic soils of Sindh’s Indus Delta, apply the product with a gypsum‑treated irrigation water to avoid phytotoxicity.
Application Timing & Watering
Apply the spray at the early disease onset – typically 10–12 days after wheat emergence (tillering stage) or at the 3‑leaf stage of rice seedlings. Use a calibrated low‑volume sprayer delivering 150‑200 L ha⁻¹, preferably during early morning or late evening when temperature is below 30 °C. After spraying, wait at least 24 hours before irrigation to ensure adequate leaf coverage and prevent wash‑off.
Resistance Management
Azoxystrobin belongs to FRAC group 11, while tebuconazole is group 3. To delay resistance, rotate with a fungicide from a different FRAC group (e.g., triazoles, strobilurins with a different chemistry) and limit total applications to three per season.
Safety & Storage
Always wear PPE, keep the 200 ml container sealed, and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
